Gas fireplace repair for Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Regency, Valor and other major brands. Pilot light, thermocouple, gas valve, blower motor, remote control and glass replacement diagnostics.
Common fireplace failures
1. PILOT LIGHT WON'T STAY LIT: usually a bad thermocouple or thermopile. The safety sensor at the pilot flame drops out and shuts the gas valve. Replacement: $180-$280.
2. FIREPLACE WON'T IGNITE: standing pilot models — pilot is out; electronic ignition models — ignitor or gas valve issue. Diagnostic identifies. Repair range: $180-$450.
3. BLOWER MOTOR (fan-forced models): the blower that pushes heated air into the room fails. Symptom: fireplace produces heat at the box but doesn't circulate. Replacement: $280-$450.
4. REMOTE CONTROL / WALL SWITCH: intermittent operation from wireless remote. Batteries, receiver module, or wall switch. Fix: $99-$220 depending on which.
For fireplace glass replacement (cracked or clouded): specialty service — glass ordered from manufacturer, install $180-$280 labour plus glass cost. Related in Las Vegas: AC installation, AC repair, and gas piping install.
The service call
Same-day response for fireplace safety issues (smell of gas, unusual smoke). Non-emergency: next-available scheduling.
Pilot light and thermocouple check. Combustion analysis. Blower motor draw. Remote control test. Visual inspection of glass, log set, venting.
Straight pricing. WETT inspection separately quoted if certification is needed (real estate, insurance).
Part replaced. Ignition sequence run 3 cycles. Combustion re-analyzed. Blower cycled through all speed settings. Remote functions tested.
Annual service matters
Gas fireplaces sit unused for 6-8 months of the year in Las Vegas (spring through early fall). Dust accumulates on the log set and burner, spiders build nests in the pilot assembly, and the millivolt thermocouple signal degrades from oxidation. Every fall, they need service before the first fire of the season.
Annual service ($180-$240): cleaning of log set, burner and pilot assembly, thermocouple output verification, combustion analysis, blower cleaning, glass cleaning with specialty solution.
Skipped annual service is the #1 cause of first-fire-of-the-season no-start calls. Book service in September or early October to skip the November backlog. Related in Las Vegas: AC installation, AC repair, and gas piping install.
